Curbing Kids' Online Time

Curbing Kids' Online Time

Doctors are telling parents to limit their kids' tweeting and texting, and also to keep smart phones and laptops out of their bedrooms.

A study from the American Academy of Pediatrics says unrestricted media use can have serious consequences, like too much media exposure, cutting into kids' sleep and their ability to pay attention.

A 2010 report says kids in the US between 8 and 18 spent an average of more than seven hours a day using some kind of entertainment media.

Some parents are scoffing at the recommendation, saying good luck trying to keep smartphones and tablets out of kids bedrooms.
