Awesomely bad Idols!

The best of the worst American Idol auditions!

  •
American Idol New York contestant Albert Chang had a range that rivaled Idol judge Mariah Carey...NOT! Photo: FOX
  •
Just because your parents say you're a great singer doesn't mean you are. Contestant Rozanna Shindelman was a bit delusional. Photo: FOX
  •
Contestant Benjamin Gaisey did not do Michael Jackson proud as he tried to woo the female judges with his voice and his moves. Photo: FOX
  •
James Bae is true Justin Bieber wannabe. Mariah Carey put it best, "Have you ever tried to DJ? It doesn't require singing..." Photo: FOX

The raciest Idol to date has to be New Jersey native Antonella Barba. A bunch of sexy, semi-naked pics showed up online while she was competing in season 6, and because her voice wasn't great, the scandal is likely what helped her stay on as long as she did.
  •
Season one's Nicki McGibbin was cute at first, but she overstayed her welcome when she beat out favorite-to-win Tamyra Gray. Between her crazy style and lackluster vocal abilities, we were glad to eventually see her go!
  •
Who could forget William Hung's rendition of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs"? His voice may be cringe-worthy, but Hung definitely had star power. A YouTube vid of his Idol audition has over a million views!
  •
Season four contestant Scott Savol had zero charisma and a barely decent voice, which made him so much fun to watch! He wound up coming in 5th place, and we're still scratching our heads on how.
  •
Conan O'Brien lookalike John Stevens was a burst of energy on season 3. He continuously entertained with song choices, singing silly tunes like "Crocodile Rock" and "Mandy" with complete confidence.
  •
"Chicken Little" look-alike Kevin Covais cracked the top 12 in season 5. His rendition of "Part Time Lover" was chuckle-worthy, and Simon believed the only reason Covais made it so far was because of the 70-and-over crowd.
  •
His dancing bordered on convulsion, but Taylor Hicks climbed the Idol ladder anyway! We still think Daughtry should've won, but it was fun to see the "Silver Fox" work it.
  •
There's only one thing you need to know about awesomely bad season 5 contestant Bobby Bennett. He sang the "Copacabana." Are you laughing? You should be.
  •
Oh, Sanjaya -- you stole our hearts! Fans ranked on his singing abilities from day one, but the season 6 contestant kept viewers on the edge of their seats with his daring hairstyles and overall 'tude.
  •
John Lennon must've rolled over in his grave when Kristy Lee Cook took the mic on "Eight Days A Week." The country crooner stuck around in season 7 for far longer than she should've, coming in at #7.
  •
America resounded in an "HOW DID SHE MAKE IT THIS FAR??" after each and every Haley Scarnato performance in season 6. The icing on the cake had to be her take on "Turn the Beat Around" -- if we weren't laughing so hard, we would've turned the TV off.
  •
Season 8 contestant Tatiana Del Toro had a serious case of the crazies. Her paranoia and overall delusions led Simon to beg, "Tatiana, please for one moment try not to be annoying." Not the best behavior for a rising star, but it did make for hilarious TV.
  •
Season 9's Aaron Kelly was a hit with the young girl crowd at first, but he turned into a snoozefest after picking bad song after bad song. We loved watching him reach new lows of boring.
  •
Rhonetta Johnson never made it past auditions, but we are SO glad she tried out. After she got turned away by the judges, Rhonetta uttered this little gem, "Paula Abdul ain't got S*!% on me!" LOVE!
  •
When Idol had its first naked photo scandal, Frenchie Davis was eliminated and replaced by Juanita Barber. This little vixen was hilarious to watch -- when Simon criticized one of her performances, she shot back, "Well I think America picked the wrong judge!"
